The Smith Family has been a staple in the Hoover community for over 20 years.  Each sibling plays on a competitive basketball team. Known for their love of basketball, they have been helping improve basketball players in the city of Birmingham for several years.  When your game needs 'fixin' call the Smiths !!!
 
 Joe Smith
 Founder/CEO/Organizing Director
 
Joe is the oldest of 5 Smith siblings in the Smith Family.  He takes a lot of responsiblity in setting a good example for all of his brothers and sisters.  After being a standout basketball player at Hoover High School, Joe signed a scholarship to attend the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).  After graduating with honors with an MIS/Business degree, Joe had an idea to create a family business that would help the community and involve everyone in his family.  After careful planning, J Smith Hoops Inc. was created.  While starting this business, he also embarked on a professional basketball career that would take him all over the world.  After a short stint in Ventspills, Latvia, Joe played in Europe for going on 6 years with 5 of them being in Italy.  Joe speaks italian fluently and is one of the only Americans to be captain of an Italian first division team.  Joe worked his first basketball camp at age 16 and has continued to do so every summer since.  After over 15 years of either working other camps or running his own basketball camps, Joe has taken his experience to create his own School of Basketball.  J Smith Hoops Ent is a combination of his experiences working camps, developing his career and teaching his younger siblings.  Smokin' Joe Smith's School of Basketball consists of basketball camps, private lessons, basketball career development and basketball camp consulting.  "Having a company that involves my entire family is a dream come true.  I am excited to see what the future holds"  Joe Smith
 
Jason Smith

Jason is 27 years old and has expanded his role for J Smith Hoops Inc.  Jason graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in May 2007.  After a standout career at Hoover High School, Jason also signed a basketball scholarship at UAH.  Keeping the family tradition alive, Jason had a remarkable career at UAH.  He was a 2 time All American and holds the All-Time 3 pts made record at UAH.  He is now embarking on a new stage of his basketball career.  Jason is in his 3rd year of professional basketball in Europe.  He has played in Czech Republic, Hungary, Ukraine and most recently Portugal.  Last season in Portugal Jason led the league in scoring and steals and was named Eurobasket's Guard of the Year.  His marketing strategies have made the Smokn' Joe Smith Camp grow over the last 8 years.  Joe and Jason have started their own camp named J Smith All American Basketball Camp which they co-direct.  Jason is known for his unique way to relate to the campers while giving them the information to improve.  The campers also enjoy Jason's "long range shot".  Each camper can't wait to see Jason shoot, as he has developed a knack for shooting and scoring several half court shots in a row !!!
 
Jaime Smith 
Camp Coach/Asst. Marketing Director
 
Jaime is 21 years old and and graduated from Hoover High School in May 2008.  He had a standout career at Hoover High School and signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Alabama in Huntsville.   He had a great freshman season leading his team to a conference championship and an NCAA tournament appearance.   This season, Jaime helped lead his team to a record breaking season achieving the best record in school history as they were back to back GSC East champions.  Jaime's team also advanced to the ELITE 8 (NCAA Tournament) in Springfield, Massachusetts for the first time in school history. He finished the season with all conference honors. Jaime has attended the Smokin' Joe Smith camp for every year of its existence.  He is now a Camp Coach and has the potential to be one of the best. Jaime has also taken a much larger role in the new J Smith All American Camp.  He is head of marketing in Huntsville and all private lessons.  Jaime has great fundamentals and is learning to transfer what he knows to the campers.  His personality and his willingness to improve will make him an important part of this company.
 
Jordan Smith 
Varsity Basketball Player
 
Jordan is 18 years old and also graduated from Hoover High School.  She was the first of all the Smith's to play varsity basketball as a freshmen.  Her junior year, she was a starter on her high school team that was runner-up in the state last year.  Last season, Jordan's team captured the state championship title after losing only 1 game the entire season.  Jordan signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Alabama in Huntsville.  She is the fourth Smith sibling to attend UAH on full scholarship.  She is currently a starter for the Lady Chargers and is having an outstanding freshman year.She has recieved the conference player of the week award twice during her freshman season and received first team all conference honors . She has traveled all over the USA playing in national AAU tournaments.  Her AAU teams have finished in the top 5 in the nation twice.  She has attended the Smokin' Joe Smith All Star Basketball Camp for 7 years and has improved her skills tremendously.   She is coming up on her third year of working camp and she continues to get better each year.  She has a great attitude and helps the camp run smoothly.
 
Jada Smith 
Middle School/AAU
 
Jada is 13 years old and is a 8th Grader at Simmons Middle School.   She is a starting point guard on her team and is improving her game every day.  She has attended the Smokin' Joe Smith All Star Basketball Camp for the last 6 years.  She impresses the camp with her perfect form and her incredible free throw shooting skills.  Jada also assists the camp by coming up with games for the campers to play.  We are excited to see how she grows as a player.  Jada has an incredible future ahead of her as she enters the high school level.

Joe and JoAnn Smith are the parents of the 5 Smith siblings.  They are the glue that holds everything together.  They support their kids in any and everything that they do.  This company is a direct reflection of how strong of an impact that the Smith parents have had on their kids.  They are raising or have raised 5 respectable young men and women who have created a company to help the community.  Thank you Joe and JoAnn !!!

J Smith Hoops Inc. has become a nationally recognized company.  The company assists others in pursuing their professional basketball career and helps in the development/organizing of other basketball camps. This summer J Smith Hoops Inc. will consult/present five basketball camps:  J Smith All American Camp in Huntsville, AL; Devean George's G Force Basketball Camp in Los Angeles; Brian Cook of the Orlando Magic Basketball Camps in Los Angeles, CA and Champaign, ILL; and Smokin' Joe's Basketball Camp in Hoover, AL.
